Creeping red fescue is a cool season, long-lived perennial sod-former adapted to cool, shady areas. It is often used in areas where low amounts of mowing, irrigation, and sunlight are required. Unlike other fine fescues, creeping red is a sod-former and can form a thick, carpet-like lawn around other bunchgrasses. Because of its fine texture, it can be used to establish a meadow-like lawn if left unmowed. This is an excellent choice for an attractive low-maintenance lawn.
